You will go over the steps you must take to create your first Facebook Ads report. We’ll go over how to add a static Facebook Ads data source to your reports and dashboards. Uploading CSV (comma-separated values) files from a Facebook Ads data source brings data into Data Studio. The file upload feature allows you to report on data that is not supported by a particular connector.

Prerequisites

  • Internet access and a web browser are required.
  • A Facebook Ads account is required.
  • A Google account is required.
  • Basic knowledge of Google Apps Script and Facebook API is required.

Loading Data Procedures

  1. CSV export of Facebook Ads Reports
  2. In Data Studio, create a Data Set.
  3. CSV files should be uploaded to Data Studio.

Step 1: Save the Facebook Ads Reports as a CSV file.

When exporting data, you can specify which campaigns, columns, Ad sets, or Ads you want to export as a CSV text file.

Step 2: Develop a Data Set

In the context of file upload, a data set is a collection of files with the same structure. After creating a file upload data set, you can connect to it and create data sources that use that data in the same way you would with any other type of data.

To make a data set, do the following:

  1. Access Data Studio by logging in.
  2. Click Create in the upper left corner.
  3. In the resulting dialogue, select Data Source and give your data source a meaningful name, such as Facebook Ads Data Source.

Step 3: Insert CSV files into Data Studio.

  1. Select File Upload from the Data Studio connectors in the Connectors panel. This connector can connect your Data Studio account to CSV (comma-separated values) files.
  2. Give Data Studio permission to upload your data to Google Cloud Storage.
  3. Drag one or more files from your computer to the upload target, or select the files you want by clicking UPLOAD FILES.
  4. Your files will be incorporated into the data set.

This method’s limitations

This method has the following limitations:

  • You can only upload 2GB of Facebook Ads data to Data Studio at a time.
  • Data Studio has a daily upload limit of 100 uploads per data set.
  • CSV files can have a maximum file size of 100MB.
  • Adding data to a data set adds it to the data set rather than merging it. To put it another way, if you upload duplicate records, both will appear in your data.
  • Each file you upload must have the same structure.
