According To Recent Research, US Adults Spend Nearly as Much Time Spent on TikTok as They Do on Netflix

Time Spent on Tiktok

According to a research issued Thursday by Insider Intelligence, TikTok is closing in on streaming giant Netflix in terms of the amount of time US adults spend on the platforms. According to the survey, TikTok usage surpassed YouTube’s two years ago. It has expanded faster than the Google-owned video-sharing network, particularly among US adults in their peak earning years.

TikTok has surpassed YouTube

“The amount of time US adult TikTok users spend on the app is rapidly increasing,” according to the market tracker’s research. “It’s significantly ahead of YouTube user time and catching up to Netflix.” According to Insider Intelligence, TikTok is more addicting among American individuals aged 25 to 54.

According to the market tracker, the time spent on TikTok by adult users in the United States is approximately 56 minutes per day this year, which is six minutes less than the time spent viewing Netflix. “TikTok is a significant contributor to the steady increase in overall time spent with social networks since the outbreak,” according to the paper.

Spent as much time as a comedy film

“Every day, TikTok users between 18 and 24 watch the equivalent of a full-length comedy movie on the app.”

Meanwhile, time spent watching traditional television by “millennials and Gen X” is decreasing, and many TV watchers are likely “second-screening” with TikTok, according to the survey. This week, a panel of US legislators agreed to approve a bill to make it easier to prohibit the Chinese-owned video-sharing app TikTok, despite warnings that the move would jeopardize free speech.

What about the TikTok ban?

The Republican-led House Foreign Affairs Committee passed the Deterring America’s Technological Adversaries (DATA) Act on a party-line vote. But still, it will meet criticism from free speech advocates and Democrats when it comes up for a vote in the full House and Senate.
