Elon Musk Closes Two of Three Twitter India Branches

Twitter office in India

Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, recently announced that two of three offices in India had been closed down and the staff sent home.

This is part of Twitter’s global strategy to reduce costs and increase profits, including job losses in other countries. Google India recently announced a round of layoffs amounting to 453 employees. Other tech giants such as Facebook have also been forced to make significant cutbacks in their India operations. The number of layoffs in the tech industry is continuing to rise, with an estimated 3,000 employees being let go on average every day in January.
