How To See Sensitive Content on Twitter?

Twitter is an online platform that keeps its users informed of events taking place all around the world. Twitter is one of the most popular social media sites, with 206 million monthly active users. On Twitter, users can exchange content, comment on other users’ posts, and bear witness to hot subjects across the world. We are aware that having a lot of power comes with a lot of responsibility. Therefore, Twitter is concerned about the well-being of its users and takes measures to shield them from potentially harmful information. You should be aware that Twitter has made this feature available to you so that you can use it to your advantage if you come across any tweets that have a warning indication. You do have the option to disable this warning about potentially offensive material. The question that arises now is how. Let’s get started with these simple steps that anybody can take to access sensitive content on Twitter without receiving a sensitivity warning or flag.

Sensitive Content

Why does Twitter display a warning when viewing content that may be offensive?

Twitter has a vast amount of information that covers a variety of topics. Twitter gives its users the ability to stay informed of all the latest news and breaking stories across the world. Twitter gives its users a platform on which they may share what they know with others and get the conversation going at the same time. People use Twitter to further solidify their knowledge by sharing videos and photographs with one another. Users who are easily offended should avoid seeing these pictures since they may occasionally include content that is aggressive or even adult in nature. Twitter prohibits access to such content in order to protect its users who are easily influenced and sensitive from experiencing emotional distress. Users of Twitter are notified if something troubling is reported in the media. Some of the ways that Twitter warns its users include stating that “the media may include sensitive material” or that “the profile may feature sensitive stuff.”

What does Twitter mean when it says that some types of content are sensitive?

Twitter has made its policies and guidelines very clear, and they describe what the company considers to be sensitive content. Twitter forbids the sharing of “sensitive content,” which includes graphic violence, pornographic content, violent sexual content, and imagery that promotes hatred. You are unable to share this content without first displaying a warning about potentially sensitive content. In a similar fashion, the media settings of Twitter users are adjusted so that they are protected from potentially sensitive content.

Now, what should you do if you insist on viewing this sensitive content?

In the event that you believe you are not particularly sensitive. In in fact, if you despise seeing these warnings on tweets and would want the convenience of turning off these alerts for sensitive content, you can. How? In order to do this, you will have to carefully read the next section.

How To Enable Sensitive Content on Twitter?

Now, first things first, you need to access the Twitter website on either your mobile device or your computer’s browser.  In a similar manner, you will only be able to perform this action if you are using the Twitter app on an Android device and not an iOS device.

Using the Twitter app for Android

The process is very much like using the web-based version of Twitter. The only difference is in the sequence of actions that must be completed before selecting the “Privacy & Safety” option. To allow access to sensitive content on your Android device, follow the steps below:

  1. Launch the app.
  2. To access your profile, click the image of your profile in the upper left corner.
  3. Click the “Settings & Privacy” option.
  4. Select the “Privacy & Safety” option.
  • Click on the tab labeled “Content you see.”
  • Turn on the switch that’s located next to the option that says “Display media that may contain sensitive content.”

After you have completed those steps, you should next activate the sensitive content in your searches:

Twitter provides warnings for content that may be deemed inappropriate for users who are impressionable or sensitive. Your media settings have these warnings automatically defined in order to protect you from content that may include explicit sexuality or graphic violence. Both the web-based version of Twitter as well as the Android app provide users the option to alter their own privacy and security settings. After you have done that, as it was previously mentioned, you will no longer see any warnings about potentially sensitive content while viewing such content.
