Instagram Expands Close Friends Feature to Reels and Posts

The company behind Instagram, Meta, has introduced a new feature that lets users share their posts with a small group of “Close Friends.” Mark Zuckerberg, the founder and CEO of Meta, announced this on his Instagram channel. The feature allows users to choose a limited audience when sharing posts and Reels.

It was released on Android and iOS devices starting from November 15. Users can now select the “audience” option when sharing a new post on their Instagram feed. They can then choose to share it only with their “close friend” list. This expands on the existing Close Friends feature, which was originally launched in 2018 for sharing Instagram stories with a select few.

With this new feature, there’s no need for an additional account to share posts privately. Additionally, Instagram is testing new options for responding to direct messages, including audio, photo, video, gifs, and stickers, which are expected to be available to all users in the near future.
