Instagram is Testing Polls in the Comments

by | Oct 22, 2023

Instagram is testing a new feature that allows users to create polls in the comments section of their posts. This gives creators another way to engage with their audience and get more interaction on their content. The head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, announced the test and mentioned that the polls can be added to both regular posts and Reels. Right now, it’s just a small test, but it will be rolled out to everyone soon, according to Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta.

The polls in the comments will look similar to the ones in Stories, where they have been available for a while using stickers. Other users will be able to see how many people voted on a poll. It’s not clear yet how long the polls will be open or if users will have options for different time frames to receive votes, like on Twitter.

Instagram has been working on making the comment section more interactive. They recently added the ability to post GIFs in comments, and they’re testing options for a more personalized Stories experience where users can create different lists to share specific content with specific groups of people.
