According to Lia Haberman, a social and influencer marketing instructor at UCLA who shared an early app description screenshot, the new app will be launched as a separate platform from Instagram, but it will allow users to connect their accounts. The app is expected to be released as early as June, and there are plans to make it compatible with other Twitter competitors like Mastodon in the future, as indicated by the screenshot.
