Meta Allows Trump to Regain Access to Facebook and Instagram

by | Feb 11, 2023

In January 2023, Meta declared that it would be reinstating Trump’s suspension in the near future, and if he were to breach their content policies once more, the penalty could range from a one month to two year suspension.

What made Meta ban Trump’s accounts for two years?

Andy Stone, a representative for Meta Platforms Inc., confirmed on Thursday that the company has reinstated ex-President Donald Trump’s access to Facebook and Instagram. He had been banned from using the services for two years after the tragic Capitol Hill riot in January 2021. Meta formerly informed that it would be lifting Trump’s suspension in the upcoming weeks, and if he infringed its regulations again, he would be facing a suspension from one month to two years.

Why Meta restores Donald Trump’s access to Facebook, and Instagram?

With the 2024 presidential election coming up, Donald Trump has been granted access to major social media channels for voter engagement and collecting money for his campaign. At the start of the year, his Instagram account had 23 million followers, while his Facebook page had 34 million subscribers.
