Meta, The Parent Company of Facebook, Is Developing A Twitter-Like Social Media Tool

by | Mar 12, 2023

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, is purportedly developing a specialised Twitter-like social media tool for people to send text-based updates. Platformer reports that the project, codenamed “P92,” will allow users to log in using their existing Instagram credentials.

MoneyControl was the first to report on this trend

“We’re looking towards creating an independent decentralised social network for text update sharing. We believe there is a need for a dedicated location where creators and public figures may communicate relevant information about their interests “According to the company’s statement. Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri is in charge of the development proccess.

According to the article, the application is still in its early phases, and no release date has been established, but legal and regulatory teams have already began to study any privacy concerns surrounding the app in order to address them before launch. Furthermore, in the months after Elon Musk took over Twitter, other competing platforms have started or acquired traction, including Mastodon, Post.news, and T2.

Bluesky is in testing phase

Meta’s recent project is not the only Twitter-Like Social Media Tool. Twitter Co-Founder and Former CEO Jack Dorsey returned to the social media game earlier this month with the introduction of his Twitter alternative “Bluesky” which is currently accessible in the Apple App Store in the testing phase.
