Meta’s Threads social media platform is said to be developing new features such as an edit button, a following feed, and a translation option for various languages. These options are not yet available, but are being worked on for future updates of the platform.
According to IANS, Threads users will soon be able to edit their posts for free, and the following feed will display posts from accounts that users choose to follow. Instagram’s head, Adam Mosseri, also confirmed that a translation option for different languages is being developed. In the current version of the app, only account searches are possible, but a future update will allow users to search for specific posts. The company is also working on a web interface for Threads, but the priority is mobile apps, as stated by Mosseri.
Mosseri mentioned that there are plans to allow account switching and discussions about adding a ‘Reactions’ button. However, he stated that he prefers to keep things simple to avoid making the app too complicated. The app will include hashtags and an improved topic-based search.
Although a ‘trending topics’ tab is being considered, Mosseri pointed out that it needs to be carefully evaluated to ensure that it balances interests, maintains localization and addresses concerns related to abuse.
Threads is a newly developed app created by the Instagram team to facilitate sharing of text updates and participating in public conversations. Users can log in using their Instagram accounts, and their posts can contain up to 500 characters, including links, photos, and videos that are up to 5 minutes long.
