Twitter Blue Verified subscribers can now upload 2 hour videos (8GB)!
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) May 18, 2023
The Twitter Blue page has undergone changes, including an increase in the maximum file size limit for video uploads from 2GB to 8GB for paid subscribers. In addition, users can now upload longer videos through the iOS app, not just the web and Twitter allows verified users to upload Two-hour long videos. However, the highest quality for video uploads remains at 1080p.
Elon Musk has spearheaded efforts to make Twitter more accommodating to longer videos and video consumption. In December of last year, the company introduced the ability to upload longer videos, and more recently, it added playback speed controls on the web. Musk has expressed his ambition to turn Twitter into an “everything app” and compete with platforms like YouTube. To that end, he has introduced several tools aimed at creators, such as extending the character limit to 10,000 for paid users, enabling support for text formatting, and rebranding Super Follows as Subscriptions.
The company recently experienced a significant shift in leadership with the appointment of Linda Yaccarino, who previously worked at NBCU, as the new CEO. Despite this change, Elon Musk stated that he will remain as chairman and will take on additional responsibilities such as overseeing product development, software, and system operations as the CTO.
