WhatsApp is adding a new feature to channels that allows users to forward messages. This feature lets channel creators reach a wider audience by including a channel link in the forwarded messages. It’s currently available to some users who have installed the latest updates of WhatsApp on iOS and Android.
To forward a message from a channel, users can tap on the message and choose the “forward” option, just like in regular WhatsApp chats. The forwarded message will include a link to the channel, making it easy for recipients to follow and join the channel if it’s public.
WhatsApp is continuously working on improving channels before making them available in more countries. While there isn’t a specific date for the wider availability of channels, Mark Zuckerberg mentioned in an earnings call that they plan to introduce channels to more countries throughout the year.
The forwarding message feature is gradually rolling out to more users over the coming days. To stay updated on WhatsApp news and discover other new features, subscribe to the Social Media Notes newsletter.
