WhatsApp channel owners to invite new administrators

WhatsApp is releasing a new update for Android users through the Google Play Beta Program. The update, version 2.23.26.5, includes a feature that allows channel owners to invite new administrators. This feature was previously announced and is now being rolled out to some beta testers.

With this update, channel owners can go to the channel info screen and invite up to 15 new administrators. The invited contacts need to accept the invitation before gaining administrative access. The administrators have the ability to modify the channel’s name, icon, description, settings, and choose which emojis can be used for reactions. It’s important to note that administrators cannot delete the channel, ensuring the channel’s integrity and continuity.

This feature was also recently released to some iOS beta testers who installed the WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.25.10.70 update.

The ability to invite new administrators for channels offers better control and management, especially as the channel grows in size and activity. New administrators can help with posting and managing content, ensuring regular updates. The feature is currently available to some beta testers on Android, and it will be rolled out to more users in the coming days.
